There was a good turn out for the ground breaking of the Higgins Memorial.
  • Photo 1:  Future site of the Higgins Memorial in Pawnee Park.  Pictured next to the sign is Brad Zywiec, student from Columbus High School and artist for the Higgins Memorial.
  • Photo 2:  Several onlookers gathered for the Higgins Memorial Ground Breaking.
  • Photo 3:  Jerry Meyer, Columbus High School History teacher and one of the backbones of the Higgins Memorial project, starts the ground breaking ceremony with introductions and explanation of the memorial.
  • Photo 4: Mayor Gielbelhaus and Brandon Rosno, a Columbus High student pour some of the sand that was collected from various beaches significant to the war.
  • Photo 5: State Senator, Jenny Robak, breaks ground for the memorial.
  • Photo 6:  Several Columbus High Students that have been a huge part of the memorial help with the ground breaking.
  •  Photo 7:  Dr. Harrison Cass, Superintendent of Schools with the shovel, Chris Dixon, school board member in front of the sign, Duane Obermeir - NSEA president, and Brad Hansen on the end principal at Columbus High School.
