Jerry is a history teacher
at Columbus High School. When he happened upon a news article
in the Omaha World Herald which stated that Higgins had been born in
Columbus, he envisioned the Higgins Memorial as an educational opportunity
for his students. With the support of his wife Mary, Jerry spearheaded
the entire project. By involving his students, family, friends,
colleagues, and the citizens of Columbus, Jerry steered the project
to reality.
